Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live with her family in Los Angeles. The actress landed her first part, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling with finances. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She played the lead protagonist for two seasons and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the show to pursue a film career. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace performed the role of Shannon on the finale episode, as well as two additional episodes. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith who's both a star-gazer and socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Award. She gained wider recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercials she appeared in in the year 2006. As the single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she played in comedies and dramas such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Other roles are as an agent of The Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a singer in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the title character. Gyllenhaal debuted as a director and writer in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
